Job Summary
The Rides Maintenance Technician is responsible for the modification, repair, and refurbishment of equipment and facilities of designated amusement rides or devices. The role involves preventative maintenance, testing rides, adjusting controls, diagnosing issues, and repairing system malfunctions as they occur. This position plays an integral role in ensuring the safe and continuous operation of park rides and attractions, thereby strengthening guest satisfaction.

Responsibilities- Conduct daily pre‑opening inspections of attractions and property.
- Diagnose and correct mechanical issues.
- Respond to trouble calls with a sense of urgency.
- Maintain the property in a clean, presentable, and safe manner.
- Perform repairs and service as directed by manufacturers’ requirements and specifications.
- Perform preventative maintenance such as painting, battery replacement, smoke detector checks, HVAC cleaning, door/lock repair, plumbing, drywall repair, basic carpentry, electrical repairs, and other issues that arise.
- Schedule repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous production operations.
- Utilize the proper PPE, depending on the nature of the job.
- Maintain all storage areas, shops, and mechanical areas in a clean, safe, organized, and secure manner.
- Complete repair work orders in a timely manner.
- Keep maintenance and park leaders fully informed of any corrective issues needed.
- Perform all other duties assigned by leadership.
High School diploma, GED, or equivalent. Equivalent work experience will also be considered. 1–2 years of previous work experience in maintenance or mechanics is highly desired. Previous work experience performing maintenance on roller coasters, amusement rides, or other attractions is desired but not required.
LanguageAbility to read, write, and speak fluent English. Spanish or other bilingual language skills are a plus.
Requirements- Must be at least 18 years of age to comply with Connecticut Child Labor Laws.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and open‑to‑close shifts.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
- Must possess strong mechanical aptitude and ability to use a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Must possess proficient knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, and small combustion engine repair.
- Ability to tear down and correctly reassemble machines, equipment, or devices.
- Ability to read and comprehend ride maintenance manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings.
- Familiarity and experience with theme park ride mechanics is a plus.
- Familiarity with state and local codes as they relate to theme park attractions.
- Must provide own tools, including but not limited to screwdrivers, hammers, pry bars, punches, wrenches, a standard socket set up to 1 inch, and a metric socket set up to 24mm.
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, twist, kneel, bend, climb, or squat for long periods.
- Ability to remain on feet for the majority of the workday.
- Ability to carry, push, pull, lift, and hold objects weighing 75 pounds or more.
- Ability to work in all non‑conventional areas of the property, including confined spaces or above ground–level, on scaffolds, ladders, and manlifts.
- Ability to consistently use hands to grasp, control, and move objects/tools.
- Ability to see differences between colors and brightness.
- Ability to see details of objects that are more than a few feet away.
- Frequent exposure to variable outside temperatures, including high heat, cold, direct sun, humidity, dust, rain, snow, ice, and other weather conditions.
- Subject to constant repetitive motion, high noise levels, vibrations, motorized equipment, and exposure to various chemicals and greases.
- Subject to blood borne pathogens.
- Proper PPE is required in these situations.
