Marine Service Technician Position Summary
A well-established full-service marine organization is seeking a Marine Service Technician to perform diagnostics, repairs, maintenance, and commissioning of recreational and commercial marine propulsion systems. The ideal candidate will be committed to delivering high-quality workmanship, outstanding customer service, and continuous professional development while supporting a busy marine service operation.
Key Responsibilities- Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain marine engines, propulsion systems, and related vessel equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and system testing to ensure equipment reliability and performance.
- Utilize manufacturer diagnostic software and computerized troubleshooting tools to identify and resolve technical issues.
- Complete repairs efficiently while maintaining high standards of workmanship and safety.
- Conduct sea trials and operational testing to verify successful repairs and proper system performance.
- Document service activities, findings, and repair recommendations accurately.
- Collaborate with service advisors, customers, and fellow technicians to ensure timely completion of work.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Participate in manufacturer and company-sponsored training programs to remain current with evolving technologies and best practices.
- Experience servicing marine propulsion systems and marine engines.
- Manufacturer certifications from major marine engine and propulsion equipment providers are highly desirable.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Experience using computer-based diagnostic and service software.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and service documentation.
- Strong customer-service mindset with a commitment to quality workmanship.
- Reliable, self-motivated, and capable of working independently or as part of a team.
- Ownership of standard technician hand tools; specialized tools may be provided.
- Valid driver’s license preferred.
- Ability to safely operate vessels for testing purposes or willingness to obtain appropriate boating certifications.
- Willingness to attend ongoing technical training and certification programs.
- Ability to work overtime and occasional weekend schedules during peak operating periods.
