The Center for Human Development (CHD) is seeking a Outreach Where you Live (OWLS) Unsheltered Outreach Caseworker to join our new Unsheltered Outreach program in the Waterbury & Litchfield county area.
Role:
The OWLS Unsheltered Outreach Caseworker oversees a variety of cases through different venues on a daily basis in the Waterbury & Litchfield county area and is able to provide the unsheltered seeking assistance the necessary tools to accomplish their goals. They will maintain a schedule including but not limited to hours of actual street outreach, use of equipment and supplies as well as a schedule of external support providers that may be able to further the individuals’ attempts to end their homelessness.
Also will work within the program’s model as well as protocols established by the Western CT Mental Health Network and the Coordinated Access Network with whom we jointly run the outreach services establishing open communication, support and accountability among collaborating agencies.
- High school diploma or GED required
- Two years in a human service organization preferred
- Two years’ experience working with adults with severe and prolonged mental illness, addiction/recovery or unsheltered populations
- Individuals with lived experience encouraged to apply
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited educational institution preferred
- Familiarity with OWL program funding
- Reliable, registered & insured vehicle and approved driving record check
- Approved criminal background check (CORI)
- High energy level; self initiating

- Assertive and confident
- Performs well under stress and in the event of crisis
- Open, direct interpersonal style; works well as a team member

Days on:
Tuesday 2:00pm-10:00pm, Wednesday 11:00am-7:00pm, Thursday 2:00pm-10:00pm, Friday 2:00pm-10:00pm, Saturday 2:00pm-10:00pm. Days off:
Sunday, Monday.
