Location Description
Michael Foods, Inc. located in Norwalk, Iowa is a southern suburb in the Des Moines metropolitan area. We produce high quality precooked egg patties as well as various French Toast products.
ResponsibilitiesThe Receiving Operator unloads trucks and puts incoming materials away. This role also supplies Aseptic with their packaging materials and will help with cycle counts and month‑ending counts of ingredients and packaging. The position helps with UPS and Fed Ex outgoing packages and the delivery of incoming packages. Will perform Shag Driver duties as needed.
- Help with UPS and Fed Ex outgoing and incoming packages daily while also confirming that accounting receives all the paperwork for UPS and Fed Ex.
- Assist with monthly inventory and help accounting with any questions they may have about inventory counts.
- Communicate to accounting and purchasing regarding any damages or credit material.
- Load and unload trailers of product, packaging or equipment and verify that all counts of product are accurate to the bill of lading and order information.
- Inspect all inbound pallets and document quality of pallets and product on inspection report.
- Ticket and verify counts and quality of all inbound product (frozen, fresh, and packaging materials).
- Perform general warehouse duties including keeping the warehouse clean and orderly.
- Help with rotation of inventory to ensure that the oldest product is used first.
- Operate forklift in a safe and efficient manner.
- Maintain daily log sheets as required, such as forklift inspection sheets.
- Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMPs, maintain sanitary conditions, and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.
- Responsible for Food Safety and Food Quality of MFI products.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- One or more months of related experience and/or training experience preferred in a warehouse setting.
- Ability to successfully complete Powered Industrial Truck training program and pass the forklift certification.
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
- Six or more months of relevant experience.
- Basic reading and comprehension skills in English.
- Basic arithmetic skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
- Ability to perform operations using units of weight measurement and volume.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in oral form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving one concrete variable in standardized situations.
- Computer knowledge or ability to learn Excel, Outlook, and SAP.
- Ability to speak effectively on the phone or before vendors and employees of the organization.
