Public Worker II

Help keep Norwalk running. Build a career that matters.

The City of Norwalk is looking for a skilled, self-motivated Public Worker II to join our Public Works team, with a primary focus on maintaining the City's facilities. This is more than a maintenance position—it's an opportunity to solve problems, improve public buildings, and make a lasting impact on the community every day.

We're seeking someone with experience in HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and general building maintenance who enjoys diagnosing issues, finding practical solutions, and taking initiative. Whether you're repairing a mechanical system yourself or coordinating with contractors and City departments to complete a project, you'll play a key role in keeping our facilities safe, functional, and operating efficiently.

While facility maintenance will be your primary focus, this position is also part of a collaborative Public Works team and may be called upon to help in other areas. From assisting with street repairs and snow removal to responding to water main breaks and other emergencies, no two days are the same. We're looking for someone who is organized, communicates effectively with coworkers, vendors, contractors, and the public, and is willing to step in wherever needed.

If you're a dependable problem solver who takes pride in quality work, enjoys working both independently and as part of a team, and wants to serve a growing community, we'd love to hear from you. Join the City of Norwalk and help maintain the infrastructure and facilities that keep our community moving.
