General

Summary:

Manages individualized goal directed nursing care through use of the nursing process and the principles of primary nursing in accordance with departmental and Hospital policies and procedures.

Education, Licensure, Registration and

Experience:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

Current RN license in the state of Ohio

CPR certification required. BLS is expected at renewal.

ACLS, PALS, and TNCC required, must be obtained within 1 year of hire or transfer into department.

Demonstrated proficiency in acute care nursing, knowledge, and skills.

Essential Functions:

Assesses and diagnoses patient and family needs to provide quality care to assigned patients.

Demonstrates the skills and judgement necessary to implement medical plan of care, nursing interventions and procedures as necessary for the care of the patient.

Evaluates the identified problems, care provided, and patient's responses are reassessed to meet patient and family needs to assure overall quality of care delivered.

Maintains current knowledge/certification/licensure. Pursues professional growth and development.

Functions as a role model for current and new staff.

Performs all responsibilities/duties required by the emergency department, as defined in the scope of service, to assure that the unique nature of the client is addressed. This includes but is not limited to the age of the client served.

Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department/unit team inter and intra departmentally to facilitate the department’s/unit’s ability to meet its goals and objectives.

Maintains up to date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided and patient's responses are reassessed to meet patient and family needs and assure overall quality of care delivered.

Standards of Employment:

Attends all mandatory education programs and can describe his or her responsibilities related to general safety and regulatory compliance.

Appearance is professional, neat, clean, and appropriate for the work environment. Wears proper photoidentification badge while on duty.

Maintains confidentiality of all hospital and patient information at all times, as observed by peers and management.

Attends monthly staff meetings and participates in monthly rounding process with manager to assure effective and timely two-way communications.

Participates in and completes required department specific education and training programs and can describe his or her responsibilities related to department safety and specific job-related hazards.

Follows safety and security policies including exposure control plans/blood borne and airborne pathogens.
