Job Summary

Manages individualized, goal‑directed nursing care through the use of the nursing process and the principles of primary nursing in accordance with the departmental and hospital policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Assess and diagnose patient and family needs to provide quality care to assigned patients.
  • Develop, discuss, and communicate a realistic plan of care for each patient in collaboration with the patient/support person to address all identified needs.
  • Implement medical plans, nursing interventions, and procedures as necessary for patient care.
  • Evaluate care outcomes and reassess to meet patient and family needs to ensure overall quality of care delivered.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date, accurate documentation of nursing care for integration by the healthcare team.
  • Maintain current knowledge, certification, and licensure; pursue professional growth and development.
  • Demonstrate respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and colleagues.
  • Attend all required safety training programs and describe responsibilities related to general safety, departmental safety, and job‑related hazards.
  • Perform all responsibilities/duties required by the unit as defined in the scope of service; address the unique needs of each client.
  • Follow the hospital exposure control plans for blood borne and airborne pathogens.
  • Promote effective working relationships within the unit and interdepartmentally to facilitate unit goals and objectives.
  • Serve as a role model and provide support and development for current and new staff.
  • Direct other licensed and non‑licensed personnel in the provision of care to patients as assigned.
Education, Licensure, Registration & Experience
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in acute care nursing, knowledge, and skills.
  • Current state nursing license.
  • BLS certification.
  • ACLS preferred, or to be completed within the first year of hire.
  • PALS preferred, or to be completed within the first year of hire.
Working Conditions
  • Stand/Walk: 6‑8 hrs
  • Sit: 1‑2 hrs
  • Bend: 1/3 or more of the time
  • Squat: 1/3 or more of the time
  • Climb: up to 1/3 of the time
  • Reach: 1/3 or more of the time
  • Lift: 1/3 or more of the time
  • Carry: 1/3 or more of the time
  • Push: 1/3 or more of the time
  • Pull: 1/3 or more of the time
  • Precise motor function (right and left hand) and gross motor function (right and left foot) required.
  • Lift up to 25 pounds 1/3 or more of the time.
