JOB DUTIES:
- Lead day-to-day MERP operations and oversee case processing activities
- Serve as the primary resource for CSRs and caseworkers, providing guidance on workflow, procedures, and case-related questions
- Train, mentor, and onboard staff on MERP policies, processes, and system functionality
- Monitor workloads, case inventories, and processing timelines to ensure work is completed accurately and timely
- Review estate recovery cases, probate filings, notices, and supporting documentation for completeness and accuracy
- Evaluate Medical claims paid by Medicaid and calculate value to be recovered
- Produce operational reports, statistics, and case status updates for management
- Work with external stakeholders such as EOHHS state users on workflow and system questions
- Identify workflow issues and recommend process improvements to management
- Assist with testing new procedures, training materials, and operational enhancements
- Communicate with attorneys, funeral homes, nursing homes, next of kins, etc. to set up case information and assist with processing cases
- Perform additional duties and complete daily tasks as assigned to support business needs
- Bachelor’s Degree;
Candidates with experience in Medicaid/healthcare or estate recovery may be considered in lieu of a degree - Working knowledge of personal computers
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of Medicaid, insurance, or healthcare-related processes and regulations
- Background/experience with probate, property, or real estate
- Excellent analytical, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to perform comfortably in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented work environment
- Ability to work as a team member, as well as independently
- Paralegal Certificate or Legal Education
- Texas Medicaid Estate Recovery experience (MERP)
- Ability to communicate effectively in Spanish is a plus
