Interim Dean of Students

Position: Interim Dean of Students Grs.7-12
The Dean of Students is appointed annually to perform supervisory and administrative duties essential to the efficient operation of the 7-12 program. This position is considered Interim and will end June 30, 2026.

Essential Job Functions:

Oversees discipline for grades 7-12
Act as a primary point of contact for students facing academic, social-emotional, or behavioral challenges
Responsible for mitigating student attendance problems
Promotes a positive and inclusive school culture where all students feel valued and respected
Supports 7-12 student leadership development and engagement
Oversees the supervision of students before, during, and after the school day, as needed
Promotes and coordinates the quality of the 7-12 program by:
providing follow-up to student discipline
working with a cohesive working team of teachers and support staff to maximize the educational experience of all students
assisting in supervising teachers in developing skills regarding problems in classroom management, student achievement, instructional competency, and effective communication
being aware of programming and activities on a day-to-day basis
Meets and confers with families and school personnel to address student attendance and/or discipline issues
Facilitates communication between faculty, students and/or parents for the purpose of evaluating situations, solving problems and/or resolving conflicts
Assists the administration in planning professional development for staff pertaining to school culture, student behavior, and classroom management
Assists in the selection, implementation, and supervision of special formal events, activities, or assembly programs that relate to student discipline, culture, and climate
Assists in the recruitment, selection, and orientation of new teachers, and in the placement of 7-12 teachers, and in the MA Educator Evaluation system as needed
Assists with the enrollment of new students and supports their transition into the SSCPS community
Assists with admission events and prospective student visit planning
Work with faculty and administration to implement 504 plans
Collects and reviews data pertaining to student discipline, school culture, and attendance
Attends school events and activities as needed
Collaborate with other school leaders to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment
Performs such tasks and takes on additional responsibilities as may be directed to ensure a positive learning environment for all students and the smooth operation of the school
