Part Time 75% FTE Math Intervention Teacher South Shore Charter Public School (SSCPS) is a diverse kindergarten through grade twelve free public charter school that serves 1,200 students. Our mission, Inspiring every student to excel in academics, service, and life, guides all we do as an educational institution. Our students come from over thirty-one communities along the South Shore; the top five districts our students come to us from are Weymouth, Brockton, Randolph, Rockland, and Abington.

Our families bring a panoply of cultural and racial diversity to our community, representing many different countries of origin with over 40 different languages spoken  make up the SSCPS student body, 59% of our students are people of color and 9% of our student body are English Language Learners. The Math Intervention Teacher is appointed on an annual basis and delegated by the Principal to perform instructional and administrative duties essential to math curriculum, instruction, and intervention in grades K-5.

This is a 75% FTE position (30 hours per week).

Reports to:

Principal

Essential Job Functions:

- Assess the math strengths and needs of students, provide that information to parents and educational staff, and use the results to support the planning and implementation of an effective intervention program for K-5 students.

- Work with teachers to examine data and monitor student progress, and assist teachers in use of data to inform instruction (e.g., grouping, identifying students for supplemental instruction or intensive interventions).

- Collaborate with teachers, the K-5 Principal, the Math Curriculum Coordinator and Director of Teaching and Learning to select students in need of math intervention.

- Provide math intervention to students who are struggling with math using proven curricular materials.

- Complete necessary Title I paperwork as assigned by the Principal.

- Communicate with families as needed and through the completion of midyear and final progress reports for Title I math students.

- Contributes to fall family Title I information sessions and other family meetings and events throughout the school year.

- Assist the Principal in budget preparation for Title I and in the selection of K-5 math curriculum materials.

- Attend school related activities as needed.

- Performs such tasks and takes on additional responsibilities as may be directed by the Principal to ensure a positive learning environment for all students and the smooth operation of the school.
