About the role
Location:
Amery or Rice Lake, WI. Hybrid role.
We are looking for an Electric Distribution Designer to help design and accomplish electric distribution customer projects. The role blends technical design, project coordination, customer interaction, and fieldwork, offering a dynamic and hands‑on experience in the utility industry.
The Electric Distribution Designer reports to a Design Supervisor or Distribution Engineering Manager and works with a team of electric, service, and gas designers. Responsibilities also involve collaboration with operations teams, engineers, and project team members to ensure successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities- Design and manage electric distribution projects for residential and commercial customers
- Perform field assessments and site visits to evaluate project requirements
- Develop system designs using GE Small world (GIS) and other tools
- Complete tasks such as:
- Transformer sizing
- Underground cable routing
- Pole placement and layout
- Review and interpret construction plans and customer requirements
- Coordinate with Operations, Distribution Engineers, and internal teams to ensure system reliability
- Communicate with customers to explain project scope, timelines, and technical details
- Support permitting and project documentation
- High school diploma or GED
- Basic electrical knowledge or interest in the utility industry

- Base salary range: $27.00 per hour to $31.00 per hour depending on experience, qualifications, and skills
