- Support the practice with overall responsibility for maintaining efficiency of patient flow
- Maintain universal precautions; room patients; take vital signs and measurements; perform phlebotomy as needed; administer vaccines; perform treatments and procedures ordered by providers
- Provide patient education and counseling and perform testing and screenings
- Maintain patient rooms, set up and stock supplies, and order and track practice supplies
- Perform administrative office duties including making appointments, filing, answering phones, preparing correspondence and patient charts, and obtaining referrals and paperwork
- Greet patients and escort them to exam rooms
- Assist physicians with routine and complex procedures, minor procedures, and wound care; act as chaperone when needed
- Process orders, collect encounter forms, answer telephones, take messages, and notify medical staff
- Coordinate room rotations
- Receive test results and call patients regarding lab and test follow-up under provider direction
- Clean instruments and equipment and maintain sterilizer competencies
- Communicate critical patient information and maintain a collaborative patient-care environment
- Coordinate schedule changes; verify schedules; assist with MA schedules; participate in huddles and meetings
- Cross-train to cover front desk duties, including patient check-in/out and administrative tasks
- Manage email communications and use Meditech, Lotus Notes, and i-heal
- Upload photographs into Meditech and i-heal
- Precept new employees and mentor, train, and share knowledge
- Collaborate with the Nursing Supervisor on yearly evaluations, chart reviews, competencies, and policy compliance
- Commit to two sessions of annual flu clinics
- Follow safety, infection-control, patient-identification, hand-hygiene, PPE, hazardous-materials, body-mechanics, and communication-chain procedures
- Perform other duties as required
- Work required weekend and holiday schedule
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
- Completion of a Medical Assistant program preferred
- Experience in a clinical setting preferred
- BLS
- Basic Life Support required - CMA
- Certified Medical Assistant certificate preferred - Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
- Strong clinical and judgment skills are essential
- Good organizational and prioritization skills
- Ability to work successfully as a team player
- Demonstrated knowledge of varied medical procedures
- Extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology and English grammar
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
- Ability to read, understand and respond to detailed oral and written instructions; communicate clearly
- Able to both lead and take direction from Nursing Supervisor
- Computer proficiency with electronic medical records, telephone communications, e-mail, and other computer software
- Availability for Monday-Friday alternating hours 8-4:30, 8:30-5pm
- Works the required weekend and holiday schedule
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- American Heart Association (AHA)
Demonstrates strong clinical skills, including phlebotomy, vital sign measurement, and patient education, while maintaining compliance with safety and infection control protocols. Proficient in administrative tasks and electronic medical records management, ensuring efficient patient flow and communication within the healthcare team.
