Position: Jail Services Technician I

Jail Services Technician I

The Washington County Sheriff's Office is recruiting for Jail Services Technician I positions. In this role, you will perform a variety of administrative jail services duties requiring extensive adults in-custody contact related to booking and custody support functions. This position will also perform tasks associated with electronically monitoring and controlling jail access and adults in custody movements within the county jail.

Jail Services Technician II ($32.47- $41.47 hourly):
After two (2) years of experience monitoring inmate activities and completion of the Sheriff's Office internal Field Training and Education Program (FTEP), as well as receiving a certification as a fully qualified "Jail Services Technician", you will be eligible to advance to a Jail Services Technician II position.

This position works within a 24-hour per day, 7-days-per-week facility. Jail Services Technician I and II positions MUST be available to work all assigned shifts including day, swing, and/or graveyard schedules on any day of the week, and MUST be willing to work on holidays and weekends.

  • Knowledge of evaluation and assessment methods and techniques.

  • Operate a variety of telecommunications equipment, including two-way radio and other electronic controls.
  • Clearly observe video monitors, including closed-circuit security monitors, computer screens, and television monitors.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with individuals and groups who come from diverse backgrounds and represent members of the public, coworkers, and/or vendors.
Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent; AND
  • Possession of one (1) year of work experience in a position that required extensive public contact to obtain information for service delivery or assessment.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be willing to work shift assignments and any hours of the day or night, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required to operate a twenty-four hour facility.
  • Must successfully pass a background investigation conducted by the Sheriff's Office.
