Position Summary
Otis Library in Norwich, Connecticut, is seeking a Library Assistant III to join our vibrant and busy Children’s Department. This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children and families both onsite and out in the community and thrives in a collaborative, community-focused environment. The ideal candidate is bright, imaginative, and engaging, with experience developing and presenting creative programs for a diverse population of children (birth through age 11) and their caregivers.
Strong reference and reader’s advisory skills are essential, along with the ability to work independently and as part of a supportive team.
- Assist with children’s programs and services in the library’s Children’s Department.
- Develop and present creative programs for children birth through age 11 and their caregivers.
- Provide reliable reference and reader’s advisory support for children and families.
- Work independently and as part of a supportive team to manage day‑to‑day operations.
- Associate’s Degree in Library Science, Library Technical Assistant Certificate, or related qualification.
- Two to three years of experience working in a library or school setting.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- 22-hour per week, year‑round position including days, evenings, and Saturday rotations.
- Hourly rate of $22.00
