We are recruiting Graduate civil engineers for the Communities Engineering teams positions are located in Lincoln (Highways), Cardiff (Structures & Infrastructure), and Norfolk (Highways & Structures).
The Teams provide advice to local authorities across the UK on transport, urban regeneration, flood risk, and infrastructure projects. As a graduate, you will support the delivery of scheme design and construction, working on a range of projects from footways to major junction improvements.

As a graduate you will support the Lincoln team in delivering highway schemes, from concept to completion. Responsibilities include site inspections, data analysis, scheme design, drafting technical documents, and supervising construction.
- Undertaking investigations, site inspections, data collection and analysis, scheme design and development.
- Preparing technical design solutions in accordance with approved design procedures.
- Preparing technical documents and drawings for checking and approval.
- Agreeing delivery targets with senior staff and reporting progress.
- Managing the delivery of your own projects with minimal supervision.
Graduate roles focus on structural inspection, preliminary design calculations, optioneering and feasibility studies, and learning hydraulic and drainage design.
- Inspections of essential infrastructure.

- Hands‑on development of solutions to problems.
- Learning and using drainage modelling software and AutoCAD.
- Attending site visits and design client meetings.
Roles involve design development, site assessments, technical reporting, and strategic transport planning, supporting the council and WSP teams.
- Assisting in planning and drafting of highway improvements and structural maintenance schemes.
- Participating in on‑site inspections and evaluations to inform design decisions.
- Preparing documentation that supports engineering decisions, compliance, and project tracking.
The two‑year programme supports personal and professional growth through blended learning, workshops, mentoring, and networking. You will gain experience with internal and external stakeholders and support your progression towards chartered status with ICE or IStruct

- Graduated with at least a 2:1 in a relevant master’s or bachelor’s degree.
- Want to start work in September 2026.
