Environmental Health & Safety Engineer II

The Environmental Health & Safety Engineer II is responsible for the safety and security of East Providence, RI & Norwich, CT facilities and their employees. Will develop, coordinate, and administer Environmental, Health, and Safety programs, and oversee security at both locations.
Essential duties and responsibilities include:
- Building positive, collaborative relationships at all levels in multiple manufacturing facilities in the creation of a zero incident ("Journey to Zero") culture, which results in attainment of EHS goals and objectives.
- Championing a zero-injury culture through visible leadership and employee engagement
- Leading safety initiatives, behavioral safety programs, and continuous improvement efforts
- Conducting regular Gemba walks, safety audits, and risk assessments
- Facilitating safety committees and driving safety observation programs
- Leading incident and near-miss reporting. Performing root cause analysis on incidents and injuries to determine specific actions needed to prevent their reoccurrence.
- Collaborating with appropriate department managers to maintain the contractor management and visitor security/safety program.
- Coaching/mentoring and supervising employees on safe work practices, hazard identification, and risk management, including establishing and leading safety committees at each facility.
- Ensuring proper chemical handling, storage, and documentation (SDS)
- Leading emergency preparedness and response planning:
- Fire safety programs and drills
- Spill response procedures
- Evacuation drills
- Coordinating with local emergency responders
- Coordinating EHS training programs to ensure compliance with OSHA standards.
- Facilitating onboarding safety training for new employees
- Maintaining training records and compliance documentation
- Coaching leaders on compliance of EHS policies, procedures, training, auditing, reporting, and tracking processes with Nordson requirements; local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and experience requirements include:
- BS Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, or other Engineering degree, or equivalent experience
- 5 or more years' experience in HSS compliance in Industrial Manufacturing or Chemical environment is preferred.
- Experience with OSHA record keeping guidelines and administration.

- Bilingual in Spanish a plus
