Position Summary: As a member of one or more of the digital banking team, performs tasks and responsibilities in support of the digital banking/operations fraud prevention and detection services of the bank. This position will assist management to minimize exposure to fraud and possible monetary losses across all payment channels including, but not limited to, ACH, P2P, RTP, ATM, Card Services, Check, Mobile/Online Banking, Reg E Claims, and deposit account payment channels.

The Fraud Analyst must work independently as well as with other department/retail branch employees to expediently investigate suspicious activity and prevent monetary losses to the bank and its customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitors and investigates real time fraud alerts queues and identifies high risk transactions such as online banking takeover, fraudulent checks, remote/mobile/ATM deposit, any questionable items.
  • Monitor online banking reports to identify unauthorized transactions and fraudulent accounts
  • Investigate and analyzes potential check and deposit fraud, debit card, and checking irregularities, including returned deposited items, wire and ACH activity, check kiting, new account fraud activity, commercial and consumer loan fraud, and any other suspicious activities.
  • Conduct daily review and approval of online banking external transfers (RTP, P2P, and A2A).
  • Process daily ACH transaction errors and exceptions including ACH returns of customer’s unauthorized transactions in accordance with regulatory guidelines and NACHA operating rules.
  • Process card and ACH disputes within Centrix DTS (Dispute Tracking System, process chargebacks and return ACH items).
  • Collaborates with the Bank’s debit card processor and team to prevent fraud and launch recovery efforts where needed in the cases of account takeovers or brute force attempts on dime bank’s debit card portfolio.
  • Working with the Security Officer, BSA Officer and Digital Banking Manager, liaise with law enforcement and other agencies and partners as required.
  • Act as back up to the security officer for Entre system.
  • Efficiently and accurately completes daily operational duties including identifying any red flags and recording as appropriate.
  • Monitors cash items on a daily basis to ensure all items are worked in a timely manner and prepares report for management.
  • Assists in development and updates of fraud procedures and communicates any changes to staff as appropriate.
  • Prepares monthly report for management including fraud cases (open and closed), dollars lost/recovered and types of fraud.
  • Provide backup support for the cash management customers regarding ACH origination files, transaction exceptions or transmission errors, change of electronic services, Remote Deposit Capture, Lockbox, Wires, Positive Pay and system functionality.
  • Other job-related duties as may be assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in business, finance, or related field and/or three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in bank fraud investigations or some comparable combination or education and experience.
  • Experience with Master Card and/or Visa card Debit Card processing preferred including Deposit Regulations knowledge (primarily Regulation E, CC, J)
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills with ability to create clear and concise summary documents of on-going investigations.
  • Strong organization skills and ability to handle multiple projects efficiently in order to ensure projects are completed timely.
  • Able to interact and communicate effectively with all management levels to assess business needs in a professional manner.
  • Knowledge state and federal bank regulations as well as compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of the COCC Core Insight system is preferred.
  • Ability to operate a PC, proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and other various software programs.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft programs preferred.
