For more than 118 years, Backus Hospital has been the primary source of healthcare services for much of Eastern Connecticut. We are home to the only trauma center in New London and Windham counties, and are the only area hospital with LIFE STAR helicopter services. Position

Summary

Our Diagnostic Imaging Schedulers are responsible for optimal workflow in scheduling and coordination of Diagnostic Imaging procedures according to department protocols. The DI Schedulers are responsible for procedural screenings, collecting, documenting and obtaining complete and accurate patient medical history necessary to ensure appropriateness and safety for all procedures. Schedules and coordinates invasive and complex patient procedures according to department protocols. Provides patient with information regarding pre-procedural preparation instructions.

Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Experience: Two (2) years experience in a hospital or health care related field is preferred.

Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology to include diagnosis codes.
  • Accurate grammar, spelling and punctuation skills necessary.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with departments, employees, physicians and managers.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Basic knowledge of windows based software.
