For more than 118 years, Backus Hospital has been the primary source of healthcare services for much of Eastern Connecticut. We are home to the only trauma center in New London and Windham counties, and are the only area hospital with LIFE STAR helicopter services. We deliver and coordinate a continuum of high-quality healthcare with the goal of improving the health of our communities.
Job SummaryCoordinates the staffing & scheduling for all of Patient Care Services (PCS), assuring that all PCS units on all shifts are staffed adequately. Processes and monitors all scheduling and timekeeping records electronically for PCS employees adhering to applicable hospital and department policies.
Qualifications- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: A minimum of 1 year Administrative Associate experience; prior scheduling experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
- Knowledge, Skills And Abilities: Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions, and effectively communicate information. Basic computer skills (including opening/reading email, basic internet use).
- Ability to work collaboratively with all departments. Ability to prioritize daily work and handle multiple priorities. Proficient skills in Windows-based software required in order to perform a multitude of job duties. Knowledge of office practices and procedures, including public contact techniques, supervisory practices and record management.
- Problem Solving and Decision Making: Work is performed in accordance with instructions and procedures, but incumbents must organize the work and set priorities. Requires the ability to exercise discretion and use good judgment to perform duties promptly and consistently with little direction. Requires the ability to independently take the appropriate action in response to changes, circumstances or problems. Work requires considerable accuracy and responsibility.
Must possess the ability to maintain confidentiality at all times. Ability to prioritize, plan and organize, exercise discretion and independent judgment, explain and apply polices, communicate both verbally and in writing. Maintains working relationships with clients, customers and departments.
