Natchaug Hospital is Eastern Connecticut’s leading provider for children, adolescents and adults with mental illness and substance abuse addictions. We offer a variety of programs including inpatient and outpatient behavioral health, residential treatment for court-involved teenage girls, geriatric services, clinical day treatment schools and chemical dependency services. ProgramSummary
Natchaug Hospital Clinical Day Treatment Schools, (CDT), are located at six sites throughout Eastern Connecticut. Students are referred and placed by Local Educational Agencies (LEAs) to provide education to these students on a short- or long-term basis, dependent on school needs. Natchaug CDT offers special education services to students in grades 1–12 whose social, emotional or behavioral health problems prevent them from functioning successfully in a regular school environment.
Each student’s individual academic and clinical treatment plan is designed to address their special needs and return them to their regular schools as soon as possible.
The Educational Assistant Para assists the teacher with classroom instruction, behavior management, and clerical duties. Assists with all student activities as assigned. Provides transportation to students as needed. This position works Monday through Friday; 7:30am-2:30pm. It is a 10-month school year calendar schedule with paid school holidays & breaks.
Qualifications- Previous experience working with children or adolescents in an educational or clinical setting.
- High School diploma or GED required, Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Valid driver's license with good driving record for a minimum 3 consecutive years.
- Ability to obtain a Public Service License (PSL
- A) endorsement, which requires you to pass pre-hire drug screen, DOT physical exam and background checks. - Familiarity with behavior management techniques and procedures.
- Computer proficiency and keyboarding skills required.
- Must be available to work Monday - Friday, during assigned schedule.
