Job Summary

Responsible for administering aerobic and other exercise programs with patients with cardiovascular and pulmonary disorders in collaboration and conjunction with RN’s and therapists to enhance quality of life, manage health risk, and promote lasting health behavior change. The specialist performs maximal and submaximal graded exercise tests, and develops and administer programs designed to enhance aerobic endurance, cardiovascular function, muscular strength and endurance and, balance.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, Physical or Occupational Therapy or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Certification as a Clinical Exercise Specialist through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM)
  • BLS certified
  • One (1) year experience in cardiopulmonary rehabilitation preferred.
Knowledge,

Skills And Abilities
  • Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions, and effectively communicate information. Basic computer skills (including opening/reading email, basic internet use).
  • Thorough knowledge of cardiac exercise programs and exercise science.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with departments, employees, physicians and managers. Works efficiently and organizes time appropriately.

  • Able to take appropriate actions in response to changes, circumstances and problems.
  • Must be organized, flexible, a team player and able to work efficiently in a noisy environment.
  • Ability to prioritize daily work assignments.
