Backus Hospital (10309)

Shift: 7:00pm–7:30am, 36 hours weekly. Rotating holidays. Every other weekend required.

Demonstrates clinical competence through utilization of the nursing process and development of a synergistic nurse-patient relationship. Assesses and identifies patient problems/needs, establishes a plan of care, and implements and evaluates care provided to patients.

• Graduate of a school of Nursing. BSN preferred.
• One (1) year RN experience and/or successful completion of the Backus Hospital Nurse Residency Program.
• Current unrestricted license in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Connecticut.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.

• Basic knowledge of nursing principles and practices.
• Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions.
• Effective communication to provide technical or complex information and instruction; excellent interpersonal skills to work with departments, employees, physicians, managers, and patients.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities, be flexible, and be a team player.
• Ability to work in a stressful environment and maintain customer service focus.
• Basic computer knowledge to enter/retrieve data.
• Ability to analyze information from various sources, take appropriate action in response to changes or emergencies, and maintain confidentiality at all times.
