Utility Equipment Operator Job Overview
This position requires knowledge of Shipping & Receiving processes and the versatility to work equally well on both sides. Candidates will operate lift equipment, RF units, and perform physical tasks such as lifting, pushing, and pulling substantial product weights. The role includes picking up product from staging areas, rack shelving units, floor locations, or stack racks and unloading onto dock/bay areas, accurately scanning merchandise with an RF gun, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and ensuring full compliance with all safety programs while operating and not operating material handling equipment.
Responsibilities- Pick up product from staging areas and offload onto rack shelving units, floor locations, or stack racks.
- Pick up product from rack shelving units, floor locations, or stack racks and offload onto dock/bay area.
- Place product accurately and scan all merchandise utilizing RF gun.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Ensure full compliance of all safety programs while operating and not operating material handling equipment.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- General understanding of distribution center operations.
- Experience using RF units for accurate movement of product.
- Ability to operate industrial lift equipment – Order Picker.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills, including reading, writing, and comprehending detailed instructions.
- Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures required for the position.
- Technical knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (preferred).
- High School Diploma or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 18 years of age.
- Prior experience in a warehouse or distribution center environment.
- Ability to operate industrial lift equipment and RF units.
- Effective communication skills, including reading, writing, and comprehending detailed instructions.
- Must be able to sit, walk, stand, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, push, pull, climb, balance, crouch, and push and handle and move items weighing up to 50 lbs without assistance.
- Ability to move throughout all areas of the distribution center and move objects up to 250 lbs with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Stand and walk continuously to perform job functions.
- Stand and walk, lifting, and arranging product: 90%; sit: 5%; desk or phone work: 5%.
- Hourly rate: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour (based on experience).
