Equine and Estate Technician
37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year
£27,994 - £29,856 per annum
We are seeking to recruit an ambitious, motivated and conscientious technician to join the College's Farm and Estate team. This is a great opportunity for an individual to join a progressive team applying modern practices and techniques across the Estates operations and become the lead for the development and maintenance of the College’s expanding equine grazing and exercise facilities. The successful individual will have the opportunity to significantly shape their role and the enterprises that they are involved with, with the support of the Head of Easton Estate.

- Carry out a wide range of seasonal estate tasks, including mowing, strimming, hedge cutting/laying, irrigation and repair work.
- Lead the practical development and maintenance of our Equine grazing and outdoor exercise facilities including paddocks, track systems, cross country course and hacking routes across the Estate.
- Operate and maintain tractors, mowers and other machinery safely and effectively.
- Work with other Estate technicians in the operation of the college Estate including crop production and livestock enterprises.
- You will also provide practical learning opportunities for students, including the demonstration of skills to small groups.
- A passion for practical outdoor work and pride in achieving high standards.
- The ability to work well in a team but also independently using your own initiative.
- A solid, practical knowledge of Estate skills such as fencing and water management with operational experience of modern farm machinery. (Essential)
- A full UK driving licence. (Essential)

As a college we are required to undertake various Safer Recruitment checks as set out within the guidance from the Department for Education Keeping Child Safe in Education. We require all staff to undertake an enhanced Adult and Child Workforce DBS Check and to register with the DBS Update Service.

From 28 November 2020 the government implemented changes to the filtering rules, and we have been instructed that we cannot accept any update service checks on DBS certificates that have been issued before this date. Therefore, a new one must be completed with City College Norwich.
