Summary: Carry out general maintenance works and operations in partnership with a Chargehand, covering a wide range of routine and cyclical tasks. Respond to emergencies and call‑outs during or outside of hours on rotas as required. Support winter maintenance activities as a second man or driver’s mate. Includes apprentices who have fully completed training.

• Work with Chargehand to deliver routine and cyclical maintenance tasks.
• Respond to emergencies and call‑outs on rotation.
• Assist with winter maintenance as a second man or driver’s mate.

• Banksman
• Manual Handling
• Abrasive Wheels
• Emergency First Aid
• Safe Dig
• Current Driving Licence
• CSCS card if required by client
• Comply with the company behaviours matrix for everyday conduct

• Apply a wide range of generalist skills.
• Understand and apply risk assessments and safe systems of work.
• Execute work as set out in specifications.
• 12 months+ relevant experience.
• Potential and interest in obtaining an LGV licence.
• Training undertaken:
  General Health & Safety Awareness, Risk Assessment Awareness, Traffic Management, Use of PDA.
• Operate small plant and equipment and mini‑excavator.

• Team player, fully engaged in teamwork.
• Willing to work varying hours to meet business needs.
• Apply skills across diverse highways tasks and with rotating team members.
• Commit to ongoing training and qualifications.
• Complete record sheets electronically or on paper.
• Take responsibility for plant and equipment.
• Use own initiative and maintain personal and others’ safety.
• Available for emergency and/or winter call‑outs.

Type: Permanent
Hours: Full Time – 40 hrs per week, Monday to Friday
