Rigging Coordinator

Location: Norwich, UK

About the Role

Next Geosolutions UKCS Ltd is looking for an experienced Rigging Coordinator to join our Assets & Operations team in Norwich.

The Rigging Coordinator will act as the company’s technical point of reference for project deck and rigging operations, supporting multiple project teams across offshore worksites. The role will be responsible for planning, coordinating and monitoring deck and rigging activities, ensuring they are carried out safely, efficiently and in accordance with applicable legislation, industry standards and company procedures.

This is primarily an office-based position in Norwich, with frequent visits to vessels in UK and European ports anticipated during mobilisation and demobilisation activities.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Management & Asset Integrity

  • Manage the company’s rigging equipment inventory, including slings, shackles, hoists and associated lifting equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment, including inspection certificates, serial numbers, colour coding and load-test documentation.
  • Coordinate inspections, thorough examinations and maintenance, ensuring defective or out-of-date equipment is removed from service.
  • Coordinate the procurement of replacement equipment and spares as required.
  • Promote high standards of equipment storage, housekeeping and traceability onboard vessels.

Lift Planning & Operational Support

  • Develop, review and improve company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and project-specific procedures relating to deck and lifting operations.
  • Prepare and contribute to detailed lift plans, risk assessments and lifting methodologies.
  • Identify project and site-specific hazards and ensure appropriate control measures are incorporated into lifting plans.
  • Provide technical input during the design and review of lifting arrangements and attachments on new equipment.
  • Support project teams with safe and effective planning of offshore deck and rigging activities.

Manning & Competency Assurance

  • Work closely with the Crewing Team and Project Managers to determine appropriate rigging manning levels and competency requirements for individual scopes of work.
  • Review rigging personnel profiles and provide approval for project deployment.
  • Ensure offshore rigging personnel have the appropriate experience, training and qualifications for the work being undertaken.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to offshore rigging teams when required

Essential requirements:

  • Minimum 3–5 years’ progressive offshore rigging experience.
  • OPITO Stage 3/4 Rigger or an equivalent recognised rigging qualification.
  • Appointed Person or Competent Person lifting/rigging training.
  • Strong working knowledge of LOLER and relevant lifting legislation, standards and mechanical handling principles.
  • Experience supporting offshore deck operations and light subsea construction activities.
  • Experience in concrete mattress deployment, PLGR operations and offshore rigging.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to support multiple projects and priorities.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with project, operations, crewing and offshore teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Desirable:

  • STCW or GWO Basic Safety Training, including Working at Height, Manual Handling and Fire Awareness.
  • Experience with CAD and/or specialist lift planning software.
  • Previous experience in a rigging coordination, lifting coordination or similar supervisory role.
