General SummaryUnder the direction of the Director of Broadband Operations, the Technical Manager oversees the daily operations, financial performance, technical reliability, and customer experience of the municipal broadband service. This role blends technical leadership with business management, ensuring efficient service delivery, strong operational discipline, and a positive experience for residential, commercial, and municipal customers.
Essential Job Functions- Manage daily operations of the Broadband Division, ensuring reliable service, network performance, and customer satisfaction.
- Oversee broadband infrastructure planning, design, construction, maintenance, troubleshooting, and service restoration.
- Monitor system performance, resolve technical issues, and support IP-based networking and customer-premise technologies.
- Supervise and train technical and customer-service staff; establish goals, priorities, and performance standards.
- Manage division budgeting, financial reporting, purchasing, inventory, billing systems, and operational accounting.
- Support customer engagement, service improvements, marketing initiatives, and development of new products/services.
- Ensure regulatory compliance, prepare required filings, and represent the Broadband Division at meetings.
- Bachelor’s degree and 7–10 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong financial management, budgeting, forecasting, and operational accounting skills.
- Demonstrated leadership, organizational, planning, and supervisory abilities.
- Experience with broadband, telecommunications, networking, or related technical systems.
- Knowledge of data networking, Internet Protocol, broadband distribution, and fiber technologies.
- Ability to prepare technical documentation and reports.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication, customer service, and relationship-building skills.
- Municipal utilities or public-sector experience preferred.
- Familiarity with fiber transport technologies and central office operations.
- Experience in a technical or service delivery environment preferred.
