Long Term Substitute Elementary Music Teacher

Job DescriptionPosition Type: Full-time
We are looking for a Long Term Substitute Elementary Music Teacher who meets the following qualifications and responsibilities.
Responsibilities- Teaches music knowledge and skills at the elementary level, including general, instrumental, or choral music, following the district curriculum.
- Provides instruction that helps students develop aesthetic concepts, appreciations, and the ability to make qualitative judgments about music.
- Develops instruction plans and organizes class time to balance instruction, demonstration, and working time.
- Provides individual and small group instruction to adapt curriculum to students' varying intellectual and artistic abilities.
- Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior to create an orderly studio environment.
- Recruits students for standard band and orchestra instruments instruction.
- Instructs students on proper care and use of instruments and equipment, and manages storage and use of materials.
- Evaluates each student's performance and growth, prepares progress reports, and communicates with parents and classroom teachers.
- Selects and requisitions instructional materials, books, instruments, and maintains inventory reports.
- Maintains professional competence through in-service education and self‑selected professional growth activities.
- Cooperates in school‑wide supervision of students during out‑of‑classroom activities.
- Participates in faculty and/or district committees and sponsors student activities.
- Performs other duties assigned by the Director of Fine Arts and/or Building Principals.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, or substantial graduate work preferred.
- Valid Massachusetts licensure in the appropriate discipline and level.
- Recent successful experience teaching at the elementary level.
- Demonstrated ability as a musician.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, both oral and written.
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience preferred.
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
