Preferred location is BETA’s Norwood, MA office. Candidates should have flexibility to work from our other office locations. BETA also offers a hybrid work schedule, allowing employees to request working remotely up to 2 days per week.
Responsibilities- Carry out Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments
- Work directly on investigation and remediation projects under the Massachusetts Contingency Plan and Rhode Island Remediation Regulations
- Collect soil, groundwater, surface water, and vapor samples at active project sites
- Assist with GIS mapping, data management, and preparation of figures for reports and regulatory submittals
- Aid with wetlands delineations, including field data collection and documentation
- Learn from Licensed Site Professionals (LSPs) with site investigations, regulatory coordination, and remediation activities
- Support drilling and remediation activities alongside experienced scientists and engineers
- Help turn field data into clear, meaningful technical reports and regulatory submittals
- Learn how projects move from investigation through cleanup and closure
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and senior environmental professionals
- Build a strong foundation in environmental regulations, compliance, and consulting best practices
- Take on additional responsibilities as opportunities arise

- Leads to potential advancement to more senior technical positions and project management
- BS in Environmental Science, Geology, Environmental Engineering or a related field
- 1 to 3 years’ experience conducting environmental investigation, remediation, MCP compliance
- Familiarity with GPS field instruments and processes
- Ability to record and reduce field notes
- Excellent time management, and ability to manage multiple assignments
- Proficient in the use of current technology (i.e., tablets, smart phones, laptops, etc.)
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong technical aptitude and an eagerness to learn
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong problem‑solving skills with high attention to detail
- Must be able to lift/move objects weighing up to 40 pounds
- Must be able to perform field work in both hot and cold weather (rain and/or snow)
- Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Current HAZWOPER/OSHA 40/8
