Position
Description:
The Applications/Process Engineer is responsible for confirming the products that our client will manufacture, will meet customer purchase order and print specifications. The work entails the detailed review of customer prints, completing in-house drawings, reviewing supplier quotations, purchase orders and customer communication. The role will be responsible for creating the initial engineering, manufacturing and quality documentation required to produce the part to meet customer specifications.
The Applications/Process Engineer will assist with the communication to make sure the customer understands the part specifications prior to releasing the PO into production.
This position will interface with sales, application engineering, customer service, planning, purchasing, manufacturing, manufacturing engineering, quality and the customer. The Application/Process Engineer will complete the technical paperwork in the Microsoft Business Central ERP System. You will be responsible for completing the information, submitting the information for approval through the quality management system and supporting the production process by answering questions and helping to resolve issues.
Over time, this position will become a technical expert in PTFE coatings and be the technical resource for the commercial organization.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain 3D models and 2D engineering drawings, ensuring accurate print specifications and critical-to-quality feature identification.
- Review customer prints to define inspection requirements, product-specific measurement criteria, and manufacturability considerations.
- Set up and manage new part item masters within the ERP system, including print assessments and inspection documentation.
- Serve as a technical liaison to sales, customers, suppliers, and internal teams to clarify specifications, resolve discrepancies, and finalize manufacturing documentation.
- Identify gaps between customer requirements and company capabilities, proactively driving design-for-manufacturability (DFM) solutions.
- Lead technical discussions in daily review meetings, providing guidance and resolving product or process-related issues.
- Coordinate with suppliers and purchasing to obtain competitive pricing and verify quotations meet print specifications, including communicating and resolving exceptions.
- Support contract review, quality documentation, coating selection, and profitability analysis while developing expertise in PTFE coating applications and related processes.
Qualifications:
- 2-5 years of manufacturing experience. Experience in medical device manufacturing a plus.
- Experience in using ERP systems. Knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD using Solid Works.
- Strong Microsoft excel and math skills.
- Strong computer and reporting skills.
