Role Overview
Lead Moderna’s INTER‑regional (INT) logistics operations across the U.S. to shape the future of supply chain execution through digital transformation and AI‑driven orchestration. Operate at the intersection of logistics, technology, and compliance—ensuring resilient, scalable, and fully compliant distribution across a complex global network.
Responsibilities- Lead the INT logistics operations and 3PL management while empowering a high‑performing, tech‑savvy team.
- Design, implement, and own GDP‑compliant end‑to‑end shipping concepts—handling of goods, shipping validation, customs clearance, etc.
- Own end‑to‑end 3PL lifecycle management across packaging, device, and logistics partners, including RFPs, selection, onboarding, performance governance, and off‑boarding.
- Lead 3PL performance management—define and track KPIs, run QBRs, drive proactive issue resolution, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure processes comply with Health Authority requirements and guidelines such as Good Distribution and Storage Practices.
- Implement AI‑powered visibility, forecasting, and exception management tools to enhance operational responsiveness.
- Partner with Moderna Digital and Logistics Engineering to design and deploy next‑gen systems—transport management, digital twins, predictive analytics, and automation platforms.
- Advance end‑to‑end digital connectivity with 3PLs and carriers, including IoT‑enabled cold chain monitoring and automated customs clearance.
- Optimize the cost‑to‑serve and ensure efficient management of logistics‑related activities.
- Collaborate with trade compliance to satisfy import and export regulations.
- Work closely with key stakeholders—INT operations, Supply Chain Planning, Logistics Engineering, Corporate Security, and Quality—to integrate business and compliance requirements into distribution and logistics processes.
- Develop and implement distribution network structure alongside key stakeholders.
- Develop distribution and logistics KPIs; update and implement compliance and business process documentation internally and with 3rd‑party logistics providers.
- Coordinate and manage internal and external parties to deliver initiatives within agreed time frames.
- Education:
BS/BA degree in supply chain, logistics, engineering, or business administration. - Experience:
8‑10 years (BS) or 5‑8 years (MS) in distribution/logistics functions, including cGMP and cGDP environments with a strong understanding of the pharma industry and supply chain. - Experience with SAP or ERP systems and modern logistics software platforms (e.g., transport management system, visibility tools, digital twins).
- Working knowledge of GDP and relevant guidelines and regulations.
- Highly organized, solutions‑driven, and able to manage multiple complex projects in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.
- Hands‑on experience with AI/ML applications in supply chain, digital twins, predictive analytics, or IoT‑enabled cold chain solutions.
- Track record of implementing automation, visibility platforms, or smart logistics solutions with measurable impact.
- Pharmaceutical and biotech experience highly preferred.
- Experience with cold chain transportation products.
- Outstanding communication skills—verbal and written—to collaborate with senior management and cross‑functional teams.
- Demonstrated drive for results and ability to develop innovative solutions.
