Position Overview

The Area Director of Operations promotes the mission and core values of the Communities and LCB Senior Living to residents, visitors, co‑workers and the surrounding community. The Area Regional Director of Operations (ARDO) is responsible for supporting operational excellence across an assigned portfolio of senior living communities. Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, the ARDO partners with Executive Directors and community leadership teams to drive occupancy, financial performance, resident satisfaction, associate engagement, regulatory compliance, and quality outcomes.

This position is designed as a developmental leadership role, providing progressive responsibility and exposure to regional operations while preparing the individual for advancement to a Regional Director of Operations position.

Responsibilities
  • Grow community occupancy by representing and interacting positively with potential residents, family members and professionals.
  • Lead the development and implementation of all strategies and tactics for the community consistent with LCB’s corporate objectives. Regularly communicate performance with Executive Directors.
  • Develop and implement successful strategies regarding labor, occupancy, mix, expenses, and quality of services, and review and redirect activity if necessary.
  • Complete quality audits biannually.
  • Maintain residents’ Bill of Rights.
  • Exhibit empathy for customers and a desire to actively listen to why they are there, and what can be done to meet their needs.
  • Bring new and creative solutions to time‑worn problems. (Idea generator)
  • Have an intuitive sense of understanding data and a track record of using that to either get ahead of an issue or to quickly get an action plan in place to deal with an issue.
  • Adopt a consensus‑driven management style with a willingness to be an active listener.
  • Utilize leadership skills to influence outcomes.
  • Provide strong training skills.
  • Demonstrate experience in associate management, including effective interviewing and hiring skills for staff, consultants and contractors.
  • Experience working independently and in a team‑oriented, collaborative environment is essential.
  • Be persuasive, encouraging, and motivating.
  • Exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills – verbal, written, interviewing, and presentation.
  • Maintain strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Possess ability to travel at least, but not limited to 90% of the time and without hesitation.
  • Strong computer skills (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Yardi, etc.).
  • Exhibit creative problem‑solving skills.
  • Maintain a strong work ethic and a commitment to the highest professional and ethical standards.
  • Interview, hire, orient, train, supervise and evaluate staff.
  • Constantly assess resident needs in relation to staff needs as a basis for determining priorities in designing an ongoing evaluation program.
  • Comply with all aspects of operation, including personnel practices, in accordance with LCB policies and federal, state and local regulations.
  • Assist in the development of operational budgets and capital requirements, including forecasting and approving expenses.
  • Act as liaison between field operations and corporate. Build strong relationships with corporate resources.
  • Be active in local community activities and establish networks and resources for resident referrals.
  • Able to work in various positions at community and willing to fill in as needed.
  • Build a high‑performing team and keep morale high.
  • Meet P&L commitments.
  • Maintain safe working and living environment.
  • Ensure that all staff uses and maintains equipment properly to avoid damage, injury, and costly repairs. Responsible for ensuring that purchasing standards are maintained and that appropriate vendors are used at all times.
