Key Account Manager

This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-growing, innovative and customer focused company. Advanced Instruments is the leading supplier of osmometers, single cell imaging instrumentation, and Artel's volumetrics verification systems, which are utilized throughout the entire bioprocessing continuum from early drug discovery and cell line development to commercial GMP manufacturing of biotherapeutic drugs.

The Key Account Manager is responsible for making substantive contributions to the Advanced Instruments Artel Bio Portfolio growth in the life science markets and its leadership position in the laboratory industry - through implementing strategic customer-facing programs for the current and future range of products and services in the defined selling territory. You will have responsibility for a critical portion of Advanced Instruments' revenue objectives, which will be measured by reaching quarterly and annual sales quotas and achieving opportunity creation targets in collaboration with Inside Sales, Field Application Scientists, and leadership teams.

The path to success will be defined by creating and executing a clear and detailed strategic and tactical plan. This is to be created in alignment with key stakeholders and management to provide the appropriate operational support. You will become familiar with the spectrum of needs and opportunities inherent in our customer profiles. Critically, you will develop expertise in Artel solutions, the core workflow processes in which it can play a role, and the substantial benefits Artel products and services can bring to laboratories.

As well, you will take the lead in connecting and interacting with a wide range of client personnel including laboratory, procurement, operations, and corporate management at all account locations. You will engage with our installed base of users and their support functions and ensure our customers are using our products effectively for their needs, and are fully satisfied with our products, our services, and the operational support we provide.

You will help customers upgrade their aged assets and expand to other departments. Prospecting activities are required to develop new business opportunities by identifying new potential customers, educating them on our value, and displacing competitive solutions.

Key skills required for this role:
Identifying and solving customer pains in their automation workflows financially and technically, handling objections, negotiating value, promoting key benefits of working with our company. Information gathered in the field will be updated in our CRM and forecasting is required through effective use of that platform.

In terms of mindset, attitude and company/team culture, the Key Account Manager will be self-driven, energetic, motivated, and proactive team player. They will behave with leadership, ownership, accountability, and will always give their best to support our customers, team, and the company in a constructive way.

Experience Requirements:

  • Exceptional integrity and high degree of personal accountability
  • Bachelor's degree in business, science, or engineering (or equivalent experience)
  • 5 years of experience in capital equipment sales
  • Preferred experience in automated liquid handling in Biotech / biopharma market focus
  • Experienced in complex sales processes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, both commercially and technically
  • Highly interpersonal and strong passion for sales methodology
  • Good level in IT (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Experience with CRM (ideally )
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Ability to engage with customers, partners and internal teams
  • Account mapping and prospecting for new accounts

Physical Requirements and

Working Conditions:

  • Willing to travel 50% of working time.
  • Must be able to use basic office equipment: computer, printer, copier, telephone, etc.
  • English is a mandatory, knowledge of other languages is a plus.
