Mail Carrier – United States Postal Service – Norwood, MA

Delivers and collects mail on foot or by vehicle under varying road and weather conditions in a prescribed area; maintains professional and effective public relations with customers and others, requiring a general familiarity with postal laws, regulations, products, and procedures commonly used, and with the geography of the area. May be required to carry mail weighing up to 35 pounds in shoulder satchels or other equipment and to load or unload container of mail weighing up to 70 pounds.

• Valid state driver’s license, safe driving record, and at least two years of unsupervised experience driving passenger cars or larger.
• Driving experience in the U.S., its possessions or territories, or U.S. military installations worldwide.
• Flexible with little to no lead time or advance notice of a schedule change.
• Ability to perform work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, including rain, sleet, ice, snow, cold, heat, animals, and insects.
• Physically demanding duties requiring moderate to heavy lifting, carrying, prolonged standing, reaching, and walking.
• Ability to learn and become proficient in delivery of mail on other routes.
• Ability to provide mail security and follow established safe work methods and procedures.
