As a Quality Control (QC) Lab Technician, you will perform analytical methods and administrative tasks required to control the quality of our raw materials, finished products and manufacturing processes. The results generated in the QC lab are used to monitor and adjust chemical processes and to assure the quality of products shipped to our customers. Responsibilities also include raw material testing and maintaining lab infrastructure.

Note: This role works second shift from 3:00 pm to – 11:30 pm Monday through Friday at our Norwood Site. Training will take place during the first shift for the first couple of months.

Responsibilities
  • Understand and conduct routine tests and analyses used in the QC lab
  • Analyze data from laboratory and plant operations
  • Provide accurate and timely results of testing
  • Use computers to record, document, report and communicate
  • Provide information or instructions to plant processes as needed
  • Maintain documentation and assist in compliance with the QC lab quality system
  • Perform calibration and standardization of instruments and reagents as needed
  • Work with chemicals and laboratory equipment as required
  • Follow all company safety and environmental guidelines
  • Maintain expected level of laboratory cleanliness
  • Interact with internal personnel and customers to acquire and exchange information
  • Identify and suggest improvements to existing methods and procedures
  • Provide training to QC technicians and others as needed
  • Provide support for QC instrumentation and infrastructure
  • Assist with development of new methods and procedures
  • Organize and maintain laboratory equipment, inventory, facilities
Education/Experience
  • Associate Degree in Chemical Science or equivalent required
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a chemical laboratory preferred
Job Requirements
  • Demonstrated interest in and aptitude for chemical science
  • Able to utilize Microsoft Office software
  • Demonstrates oral and written communication skills to document work and interact with internal and external contacts
  • Competent in math for chemistry applications
  • Perform work and collaborate with others in the Shepherd organization in a manner consistent with Shepherd Chemical Core Values
  • Ability to work in a high energy/fast paced/detail-oriented environment.
  • Strong organizational skills – able to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
