We currently have two opportunities available to join our Estates Team as a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Craft worker (Builder/Joiner) providing a full range of maintenance services across Trust sites. You will undertake a broad range of joinery maintenance, repair and installation work using hand, power, and machine tools as appropriate. The role offers a significant opportunity to contribute to the smooth functioning and maintenance of a range of engineering and building services in the Trust's clinical and non-clinical facilities.
This role is critical to the Estates Department's maintenance support service and is demanding and varied as it covers a range of services.
Salary and benefits: £25,760 to £27,476 per annum plus an additional Recruitment & Retention Premia of £3,500 per annum. Use of a Trust van, 27-33 days annual leave plus bank holidays, and opportunity to join the NHS pension scheme.
Main Duties of the JobOperating as a mobile Multi-Skilled Maintenance Craft worker (Builder/Joiner), you will receive your work on a handheld device from the Estates and Facilities Helpdesk and Team Leader. You will be expected to prioritise your daily workload ensuring you complete the tasks in the given priority. The role will predominately include undertaking statutory and non-statutory planned preventative maintenance (with training if required).
You will undertake multi-skilled works across all Trust properties including working at heights and in adverse weather conditions, within your own competencies. You will be expected to demonstrate all aspects of the joinery discipline together with a flexible and conscientious approach to working. The successful candidate will be based at Duncan Macmillan House but must be willing to work at any of the Trust's sites.
You will be required to interpret work from drawings, instructions and specifications; diagnose faults and carry out necessary repair work. It is essential you have an understanding of other craft-persons' work in relation to their own discipline to provide a consistent service when carrying out both maintenance and minor work schemes.
Job DetailsFull-time (37.5 hours per week) 8am-4pm Monday to Friday; part-time hours may be considered.
Visa and Sponsorship: This post does not meet the pay level required for a Skilled Worker visa. Successful applicants with no prior NHS experience would normally be placed at the bottom of the band in line with Agenda for Change. This salary is below the minimum salary required for sponsorship for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa. In these circumstances the Trust would not, therefore, be able to sponsor for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa.
DBS Check Costs: Applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment. You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service, with an annual fee of £16 per year.
Driving License: A full UK driving license and vehicle for business use is required for this post; reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled individuals in line with the Equality Act 2010.
Training- Additional joinery / building training
- Completed craft apprenticeship or recognised training with significant experience
- City and Guilds or equivalent advanced craft certificate in appropriate discipline
- Health and Safety Certificate
- Management Qualification
- Advanced Health and Safety Certificate
- First Aid Certificate
- IT skills, use of mobile devices used in conjunction with the delivery of estates maintenance
- Good communication skills both written and verbal at all levels of authority
- Adaptable to change as required
- Able to work in a team and as a lone worker
- Skills of other building Trades
- Knowledge of relevant regulations and codes of practice applicable to estates maintenance in a healthcare setting
- A good understanding of customer care
- Knowledge of engineering and building services in an NHS setting
