National Projects | Midlands-Based

Are you an experienced Fire & Security Engineer looking to take the next step in your career?

This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established, growing business delivering high-profile fire and security projects for some of the UK's biggest and most recognisable brands.

With a strong national presence and an impressive client portfolio, you'll have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of commercial projects across the UK.

We're looking for a Project Commissioning Engineer who is confident with 2nd fix, commissioning, programming and fault-finding and wants to build a long-term career within a business that is willing to invest in the right person.

Why This Opportunity?

This isn't your typical service engineering role.

You'll be working on national projects from installation through to final commissioning and handover, giving you exposure to a wide range of systems, environments and clients.

You'll work across sites including:

  • Major fast-food and restaurant chains
  • Gyms and leisure facilities
  • Care homes
  • Large commercial properties
  • National multi-site contracts

With projects taking you across the UK, no two weeks are likely to be the same.

There is also genuine opportunity to develop your technical skills and progress your career. Engineers who are looking to move into a more senior project or commissioning position will be considered, with training and support available for the right candidate.

The Role

As a Project Commissioning Engineer, you'll be responsible for the final stages of fire and security projects, ensuring systems are correctly configured, fully operational and ready for client handover.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Commissioning, configuring and testing fire and security systems across commercial and high-profile client sites.
  • Carrying out 2nd fix and end-to-end commissioning to ensure projects meet specifications and client requirements.
  • Commissioning and configuring CCTV, intruder alarms, access control, intercom and fire alarm systems.
  • Programming and configuring systems and integrating multiple fire and security platforms.
  • Reviewing drawings, specifications and technical documentation before commissioning.
  • Carrying out fault-finding, diagnostics, snagging and remedial works.
  • Identifying and resolving technical issues during commissioning and project handover.
  • Working closely with Project Managers, installation engineers, subcontractors and clients to ensure projects are completed on time and to a high standard.
  • Completing commissioning documentation, test sheets, handover packs and reports.
  • Providing technical support and guidance to installation engineers where required.
  • Ensuring systems are commissioned in line with relevant standards, manufacturer requirements and client specifications.
  • Demonstrating completed systems to clients and providing end‑user training where required.
  • Supporting site surveys, technical queries and project design reviews when required.
  • Maintaining high standards of quality, health & safety and customer service.
Systems & Manufacturers

You have the opportunity to work across a broad range of industry-leading systems, including:

Honeywell | Texecom | Gent | Paxton | Hikvision | Kentec | C-TEC | Apollo

You don't necessarily need experience across every system listed - strong commissioning experience and a willingness to learn are key.

Travel & Working Away

This is a national role, so flexibility to travel and work away is essential.

Typically, you can expect to be away 2-3 nights per week, although some weeks may involve little or no overnight travel. With good planning, the aim is to keep overnight stays to a minimum, but flexibility is required depending on project requirements.

You’ll be rewarded properly for working away:
  • Hotels fully paid for
  • £15 per night paid into salary
  • Additional £10 breakfast allowance when working in London

The ideal location would be the Midlands or a central UK location, giving you good access to the national projects.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for an engineer who is technically strong, reliable and comfortable taking ownership of projects through to completion.

Ideally, you’ll have:
