About the RoleThe Preventative Adaptations (PAD) scheme, delivered through the Adaptations & Renewals Agency, helps older residents remain safe, independent and living in their own homes for longer.
As a Joiner / Multi Skilled Operative (Home Adaptations), you will assess residents' homes and identify appropriate minor adaptation solutions that improve accessibility, reduce falls risks and promote independent living. You will plan and install small adaptation schemes and liaise with a contractor on some larger works. Through the provision of these adaptations and practical solutions, you will play a key role in supporting independent living and preventing avoidable hospital admissions and admissions to residential care.
This is a rewarding and varied role that combines home safety assessments, planning and installation works, workshop activities and direct engagement with residents across Nottingham.
Your responsibilities will include:Carrying out environmental and person-centred risk assessments within residents' homes.
Planning and installing a range of home adaptations and falls prevention equipment, including:
- Grab rails to baths, showers, walls and entrance doors
- Additional stair rails
- Chair raisers
- Threshold strips
- Minor joinery adaptations
- Accessibility improvements designed to promote independent living
Removing trip hazards and undertaking practical works to reduce falls risks within the home.
Preparing, manufacturing and modifying handrails and other adaptation components within a workshop environment.
Providing practical advice on home safety and falls prevention.
Liaising with Occupational Therapy colleagues, signposting residents to other services and working collaboratively with partner agencies where appropriate.
Managing stock, tools, materials and equipment, ensuring safe storage and transportation.
Maintaining accurate manual and electronic records.
Monitoring contractor works where required to ensure quality and value for money.
Driving a Council vehicle across Nottingham to undertake home visits, installations and repairs.
The role requires strong practical and technical skills, excellent organisation and the ability to work independently while providing a high-quality, customer-focused service to residents.
About YouWe are looking for someone with experience in installation, repairs, maintenance, adaptations, joinery or other practical trade-based roles who enjoys helping people and takes pride in delivering high-quality workmanship.
