Library Aides play a major role in ensuring library patrons can easily find what they are looking for at each branch. Library Aides are often focused on sorting, arranging and shelving library materials; picking up/unloading, checking in and sorting the library book drop; processing new materials; and locating, retrieving, and processing lists of library materials. Library Aides also assist in setting up equipment for library programs, such as story time, and help keep the library neat and welcoming for patrons.
Library Aides follow both oral and written instructions and must be able to maintain accuracy in repetitive work over extended periods of time. Library Aides are frequently required to lift and move bins/boxes of materials weighing 30-50 pounds, as well as shelve materials at ground level.
