Job Role s and Responsibilities

Develop conceptual, budget, GMP, and lump sum estimates

Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs and material and equipment pricing

Participate in subcontractor solicitation and job walks

Meet proposal and bid deadlines

Review and analyze subcontractor proposals

Define and clarify project scopes of work, schedules, and procurement requirements

Develop competitive lump sum bids

Assist with project estimates and preconstruction activities

Perform constructability reviews

Conduct value engineering analysis and identify cost effective alternatives

Perform preconstruction, estimating, and bidding functions for projects up to $20 million

Work collaboratively with estimating teams to prepare estimates and final bid pricing

Develop accurate conceptual estimates

Produce project schedules

Review architectural and structural drawings, specifications, schedules, contracts, proposal drawings, and related project documents

Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers

Analyze unit costs and construction cost factors

Prepare quantity takeoffs, cost analyses, estimates, and trend studies for self performed and subcontracted scopes

Evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing and identify project risks

Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and design teams

Support competitive bidding and cost control efforts

Qualifications and Certifications

Minimum 5 years of construction estimating experience

At least 3 years of K-12 public school estimating experience preferred

Experience estimating construction projects up to $20 million

Strong preconstruction, estimating, and bidding experience

Ability to prepare conceptual and detailed estimates

Strong understanding of construction contracts, drawings, specifications, and schedules

Ability to perform detailed quantity takeoffs and cost analysis

Knowledge of unit costs and factors affecting construction costs

Understanding of subcontractor risk and project procurement requirements

Experience with subcontractor and supplier solicitation

Ability to perform constructability and value engineering reviews

Strong subcontractor and supplier relationship management skills

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Proficiency with spreadsheets, database programs, and on screen takeoff software

Bachelor's degree in Construction, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred

Equivalent combination of education, construction experience, and training may be considered
