Position: Air Quality Modeler - FLEXIBLE US LOCATION

Air Quality Modeler

Location:

Novato, CA, or flexible location in the USA.

Ramboll is seeking an experienced Air Quality Modeler to join the firm. This position is located in Novato, California in the San Francisco Bay Area or may be worked remotely across the USA. The role focuses on applying advanced air quality models, such as CAMx, to support government and business clients in addressing complex air quality challenges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct scientific investigations using advanced air quality and meteorological models and interpret modeling results.
  • Perform statistical and geospatial analyses of emissions and air quality data.
  • Develop new air quality modeling and analysis tools.
  • Prepare reports and communicate results to clients.
  • Publish and present findings to peers and stakeholders.
  • Participate actively in Ramboll sustainability practitioners network across environment, energy, and water services.
Qualifications
  • B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in a discipline relevant to air quality and/or meteorological modeling such as atmospheric science, engineering, meteorology, chemistry, or physics.
  • At least 2 years of air quality or related experience (graduate student work may count).
  • Proven experience with air quality/meteorological models such as CAMx, CMAQ, GEOS-Chem, WRF, or climate models.
  • Computer programming experience, such as scientific programming and database programming.
  • Strong computing skills including advanced use of spreadsheets and word processing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, problem‑solving, and organization skills.
  • Experience with the SMOKE emission processor is an advantage.
