The Director of Quality provides strategic and operational leadership for network‑wide clinical quality, performance improvement, patient safety, and outcomes optimization across a clinically integrated outpatient network. This role partners closely with affiliated academic institutions, payer partners, and Independent Physician Associations (IPAs) to advance value‑based care and quality excellence. Reporting to senior physician and quality executives, the Director of Outpatient Quality leads clinical quality strategy, data analytics, regulatory readiness, patient safety culture, grievance management, and peer review processes using evidence‑based and Just Culture principles.
ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership
- Design and implement strategies to improve clinical quality, patient safety, and outcomes across all network sites.
- Align quality initiatives with organizational goals, value‑based care models, and population health strategies.
- Lead annual clinical quality and patient safety plans.
- Provide consultation and coaching to leaders and improvement teams.
- Collaborate with analytics and population health teams to develop metrics and dashboards.
- Manage clinical quality staff and cross‑functional teams.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with state, federal, and payer quality requirements.
- Maintain readiness for audits, reporting, and accreditation.
- Lead compliance complaint investigations and corrective action plans.
- Oversee quality data collection, validation, and interpretation.
- Translate data into actionable insights for leadership and medical staff.
- Serve as liaison to enterprise quality data analytics teams.
- Partner with academic affiliates, payer organizations, and IPAs.
- Support shared learning, benchmarking, and coordinated quality initiatives.
- Collaborate with clinical informatics and IT teams to optimize Epic‑based EHR workflows.
- Support accurate reporting and provider engagement.
- Lead organizational MIPS strategy and reporting.
- Ensure compliance and optimization of CMS quality programs.
- Investigate and respond to outpatient patient grievances.
- Collaborate with patient experience and risk teams.
- Lead outpatient patient safety event reporting and response.
- Partner with Risk Management on serious safety events.
- Support peer review committees and safety culture initiatives.
- Champion continuous learning and accountability.
- Lead safety culture surveys, training programs, and event response teams.
- Manage outpatient infection prevention programs and staff.
- Ensure compliance with infection control standards and outbreak response.
- Liaison for outpatient clinical research protocol review and compliance.
- Master’s degree in Nursing, Pharmacy, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or related field required.

Certifications:
Active Registered Nurse license or Pharm
D. Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) required. CPPS or CIC preferred.
- 5+ years in clinical quality, performance improvement, or patient safety.
- 3+ years in management or director‑level leadership.
- Experience in value‑based care environments.
- Epic‑based EHR and MIPS reporting experience.
- Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
- Expertise in quality measurement and health informatics.
- Proven ability to lead multi‑site quality programs.
$182,000-$219,000 per year
