About Technical Operations

Bio Marin's Technical Operations group is responsible for creating our drugs for use in clinical trials and for scaling production of those drugs for the commercial market. These engineers, technicians, scientists and support staff build and maintain cutting‑edge manufacturing processes and sites, provide quality assurance and quality control to ensure we meet regulatory standards, and procure the needed goods and services to support manufacturing and coordinating the worldwide movement of our drugs to patients.

SUMMARY

The Bio Marin Summer Internship Program will enable students to gain valuable experience and knowledge of the processes and systems within Bio Marin, while gaining an insight into the pharmaceutical/biotech industry. Over the course of 10–12 weeks interns gain industry experience while working alongside our talented team on meaningful projects.

JOB DESCRIPTION /PROJECT

We are seeking a motivated Quality Specialist intern to support Quality Oversight of External Test Labs and Contract Manufacturing Organizations. This role offers experience in contract manufacturing and testing oversight, continuous improvement, and quality performance in the Biotech industry.

The intern will partner closely with various functions in Quality teams to help establish visual management tools, performance metrics and reports.

Required Skills
  • Strong organizational and attention to detail skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
  • Comfortable working in a regulated environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Desired Skills
  • Familiarity with AI and digitalization
  • Interest in quality control, manufacturing, operations excellence, or quality assurance
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
Qualifications/Eligibility
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Bioengineering, Industrial), Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Operations, or related field
  • Work performed in an active manufacturing environment
  • Will require gowning and adherence to GMP Procedures
  • Must be available to work full time, 40 hours a week
  • Must be currently enrolled as a full‑time student at an accredited U.S. based university or college and enrolled in the fall term after the completion of the internship or have graduated within one year of the start of the program
  • Must be able to relocate if necessary and work at the designated site for the duration of the internship for on‑site, hybrid roles
