Homeward Bound of Marin is a dynamic and evolving non-profit agency working to end homelessness in Marin County through affordable housing development, supportive services, job training, and social enterprise. With a successful 50-year history and strong interdisciplinary partnerships with other private and public partners, Homeward Bound is positioned for impactful growth over the next decade.

We're looking for a Program Coordinator to join our adult shelter and housing team and support residents as they build stability and self-sufficiency. In this role, you'll work with participants in our newly opened 26-unit workforce housing program, which provides affordable housing for adults and families transitioning out of homelessness. Residents are employed in the local community, and you will help them maintain their housing, navigate challenges, and move toward greater independence.

Through consistent, onsite support, you'll play a key role in ensuring residents feel supported, seen, and genuinely set up for long-term success.

The Candidate

We're looking for someone who brings compassion, sound judgment, and a genuine commitment to supporting personal growth, and who enjoys working as part of a collaborative team. The ideal candidate has experience in case management or supportive services and is comfortable working alongside individuals and families impacted by homelessness and complex systems.

You communicate with empathy and clarity, approach challenges with patience and flexibility, and balance encouragement with accountability as you help residents build stability, confidence, and long-term independence.

Education or Training Equivalent to:

* Bachelor's degree in social work, social welfare, psychology, or a related field, or at least 3 years of experience in a related residential or housing program.

Qualifications and Abilities:

* Minimum of three (3) years' experience working with under-resourced or low-income populations; experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness preferred.

* Experience in residential and/or housing programs.

* Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

* Knowledge of Housing First and harm-reduction principles.

* Working knowledge of SSI, SSDI, and SDI.

* Experience with data entry systems (HMIS, Salesforce, or similar).

* Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, cloud-based systems, and Adobe.

* Comfort working in a culturally and ethnically diverse environment.

* Working knowledge of substance dependence disorders and mental health disorders.

* Demonstrate the ability to seek feedback, ask questions, and apply constructive suggestions.

* Ability to interact with residents in a compassionate, flexible, and respectful manner, maintaining professionalism in all interactions.

* Efficient in handling multiple tasks simultaneously and making quick, informed decisions in fast paced environments.

* Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Physical Requirements:

* Ability to sit and use a computer mouse, keyboard, and monitor for moderate periods of time (1 - 3 hours per day).

* Ability to stoop, crouch, kneel, or crawl occasionally.

* Ability to lift or move objects up to 40 pounds.

Key Responsibilities:

* Provide housing-focused case management in one-on-one settings for up to 24 single adults and group settings.org

* Incorporate CalAIM care coordination and housing stabilization strategies into individualized housing and care plans, in collaboration with healthcare, behavioral health, and community-based partners.

* Identify and address barriers to housing stabilization, including chronic homelessness, mental and physical health needs, substance use disorders, under-employment, lack of income, and other systemic barriers.

* Skillfully prevent and/or resolve conflicts skillfully using a strengths-based approach.

* Manage a full caseload and bi-weekly/monthly meetings, with strong organization, time-management, and prioritization skills.

* Participate in weekly supervision, program meetings, all-staff meetings, and required training.

* Respond to urgent and crisis situations, including coordination with emergency medical teams, fire department, law enforcement, psychiatric services, and community partners as needed.

* Prevent and resolve conflicts using a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach.
