A great UHY client is seeking a Lead Accountant – Transmission Revenues
. The ideal candidate will have transmission revenue accounting experience, strong knowledge of FERC/GAAP/regulatory accounting, and advanced Excel and financial analysis skills.

The Lead Accountant – Transmission Revenues role is a hybrid position with Tuesday-Thursday in the office. This is a direct hire position.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare, analyze, and reconcile monthly billed transmission revenue, formula rate true-ups, amortization schedules, and other regulatory accounting data.
  • Ensure accounting processes produce complete and accurate information for transmission revenue requirement calculations.
  • Maintain and administer spreadsheets used to calculate network and billing loads, including tracking historical load changes.
  • Develop and manage revenue models supporting joint zone revenue distribution and billed revenue recording for Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) and Southwest Power Pool (SPP).
  • Administer accounting and billing activities in accordance with legacy transmission revenue agreements.
  • Lead or participate in the annual MISO and SPP formula rate actual protocols process in coordination with Finance and Regulatory teams.
  • Develop and maintain spreadsheets supporting prior-year formula rate true-ups, interest calculations, and current-year billing adjustments.
  • Support regulatory accounting activities under ASC 980, including evaluating the recoverability of regulatory and intangible assets and ensuring proper recording of regulatory liabilities.
  • Prepare quarterly, annual, and ad hoc financial reporting support for SEC filings, including Forms 10-Q and 10-K, as well as FERC reporting requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) internal controls and provide documentation supporting internal and external audits.
  • Serve as a primary accounting contact for MISO, SPP, transmission partners, customers, auditors, and other stakeholders regarding settlements and transmission revenue matters.
  • Collaborate with Regulatory, Legal, Engineering, Finance, and Accounting teams to resolve settlement, rate making, and regulatory accounting issues.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that enhance reporting accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Maintain and improve accounting procedures, documentation, and workflows supporting settlements and regulatory accounting.
  • Mentor team members and provide leadership on complex accounting and regulatory matters.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience with increasing responsibility; utility or public accounting experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of FERC regulations, GAAP, FASB guidance, SEC reporting requirements, and regulatory accounting principles.
  • Experience with ASC 980 (Regulated Operations) and utility regulatory accounting is strongly preferred.
  • Solid understanding of formula rate true-ups, transmission settlements, and revenue accounting.
  • Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance and internal control requirements.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex formulas, data analysis, and financial modeling.
  • Ability to interpret contracts and agreements related to transmission revenue accounting.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve data anomalies.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet critical deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and with external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to mentor others, lead initiatives, and drive continuous process improvements.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
