Tax Staff - Public

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Tax Staff team member to join a public accounting team in Michigan. This position focuses on preparing and reviewing a range of tax filings for individual and corporate clients while delivering accurate, timely support throughout the tax process. The role is well suited for someone with hands-on public tax experience who is comfortable working with high-net-worth client matters and tax software.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare federal, state, and local tax returns for individual clients, ensuring accuracy and compliance with current regulations.

- Complete corporate tax filings and supporting schedules for business entities within established deadlines.

- Gather, organize, and analyze financial documents needed to produce complete and accurate tax returns.

- Work with senior tax team members to resolve filing issues, research tax questions, and address client-specific concerns.

- Manage tax preparation workflows using CCH Pro System and CCH Pro System Fx software.

- Support high-net-worth client engagements by handling complex financial information with discretion and precision.

- Review return data for completeness and identify discrepancies or missing information before submission.

- Stay informed on tax law updates and apply changes appropriately to client filings and related documentation. Requirements - At least 3 years of experience in public accounting or a similar tax-focused environment.

- Demonstrated experience preparing individual tax returns and corporate tax returns.

- Strong working knowledge of tax preparation practices, supporting documentation, and filing procedures.

- Proficiency with CCH Pro System and CCH Pro System Fx.

- Experience supporting net worth or high-net-worth clients with complex tax situations.

- Solid attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy across multiple assignments.

- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate within an accounting team.
