EQ is seeking an Observability Practice Lead to build, scale, and lead our Observability practice as a high-growth, high-margin business line. This role is ideal for a proactive, entrepreneurial leader who blends business acumen with operational rigor and is excited to join a growing, performance-driven organization. The Observability Practice Lead owns full P&L responsibility and leads all aspects of strategy, sales alignment, delivery execution, and capability development for cloud
EQ’s Observability business. This role balances near-term growth and margin delivery with long-term scalability, client satisfaction, and market differentiation.
- P&L Ownership & Business Growth
- Own end-to-end financial performance, including revenue, gross margin, utilization, and recurring revenue targets.
- Develop and execute a multi-year growth strategy to expand predictable recurring revenue and overall topline growth.
- Translate strategy into execution through monthly operating reviews and KPI-driven dashboards.
- Sales & Go-To-Market Alignment
- Partner with Sales and Marketing to define and execute GTM plays around key observability differentiators.
- Coordinate with cloud
EQ’s sales organization and partner ecosystems to drive net-new and expansion opportunities (e.g., New Relic). - Oversee pre-sales solutioning, ensuring quality, consistency, and accuracy in proposals, estimates, and client presentations.
- Delivery & Operational Leadership
- Lead onshore and offshore delivery teams to ensure high-quality, value-driven client outcomes.
- Establish scalable delivery frameworks emphasizing automation, reusability, and practitioner-led expertise ("Observability-as-Code").
- Maintain strong delivery governance, including CSAT, delivery KPIs, utilization, and quality controls.
- Practice Strategy & Capability Development
- Evolve the observability services portfolio to include managed services and recurring offerings.
- Drive IP creation, automation, and reusable frameworks across engagements.
- Define and execute talent strategy, including hiring, cross-training, certifications, and scalable onshore/offshore models.
- Collaborate closely with Architecture, Customer Success, and PMO teams to deliver integrated client solutions.
- Leadership & Governance
- Lead with a focus on business outcomes, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Establish operating rhythms including scorecards, quarterly planning, and KPI-based accountability.
- Represent the Observability practice at the executive level and across cross-practice initiatives.
- Key Metrics for Success
- Revenue growth and gross margin performance
- Recurring revenue expansion
- Client satisfaction (CSAT)
- Team utilization and delivery efficiency
- Innovation metrics (reusable assets, automation frameworks deployed)
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in Cloud, Enterprise Systems, Observability, or professional services organizations.
- 5+ years leading P&L or delivery organizations with gross margin responsibility.
- Proven success building and scaling consulting or managed services offerings.
- Strong financial acumen with the ability to interpret P&L, pipeline, and utilization data.
- Experience leading distributed, cross-functional, and global teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with observability platforms such as New Relic, Datadog, Splunk, and enterprise observability maturity models.
- Understanding of how AI/ML enhances observability (AIOps, anomaly detection, predictive alerting).
- Background in mid-tier consultancies, systems integrators, or boutique MSPs.
- Demonstrated ability to convert project-based work into recurring managed services.
- Ability to effectively multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient computer and software skills
- Considerable knowledge of computer operations and applications
- Demonstration of planning, coordination, communication, and support to the organization
- Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
- Strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities in fast-paced environments
