Overview
OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION:
Performs complete transmission replacements in vehicles. Key contributor on Root Cause Analysis and Engineering Investigations by performing evaluations in vehicle and by acquiring in real time transmission data during evaluations.
Log project work activities in the work order system
Drives Hilo and helps with warehouse organization.
Must be physically present in work area during specified working hours, unless instructed otherwise by supervisor.
Ability to learn, use and create new tools as needed
Works effectively with others as a member of a team to solve problems.
Successfully prioritizes own workload based on projects assigned, support engineers with coordinating activities related to replacing & installing transmissions in vehicles, works under minimum supervision.
Shows initiative by making improvements in own work area
Uses MS Office;
Warranty Tech+, CANAPE software and DS2 to report, interpret, analyze and log information.
Read and follow detailed instructions and perform transmission replacements in vehicles.
Create transmission replace/install records and evaluation reports detailing results of vehicle driving evaluations.
Performs full vehicle driving assessment
Support Warranty and Product Engineers with transmission analysis information gained by driving the vehicle, conducting evaluations and creating reports on the findings.
Create and release work instructions in the system under engineering approval and supervision
Responsible to create analysis reports towards supporting root cause analysis based on results of vehicle evaluations data
Trains others and creates custom training plans.
Drive vehicle in order to conduct evaluations and compare to precise requirements and specifications. Can make a detailed interpretation and summary of findings from vehicle evaluations
Performs reliable and very efficient transmission replacement in cars, according to work instructions and following best practices.
Leads and organizes a team of Tech’s on daily activities following main goal and objective defined by supervisor. Leads meetings with peers and assigns work to them.
Secondary Functions- Perform component and subsystem measurements using tools like calipers, micrometers, high gages, dial indicators, etc.
- Support engineers with engineering investigation due to implementation of new concepts or because of field failures.
- Assist with delivery of transmissions to the customer (driver).
- Maintain the 5-S standards in the lab.
- Other duties assigned by supervisor.
Professional Background / Basic Qualification /
Work Experience:
Ability to routinely lift and maneuver in excess of 100 lbs with the support of lifts and hoists
Experience using MS Excel. MS Word, MS Outlook, Sharepoint, MS Access, Bauer, Slipspace and Canape/other data acquisition software.
Has strong Mathematical skills and is able to understand all test results.
Analytical and abstract ability to understand how transmission work and therefore find issues when things are not as expected.
Ability to analyze and review test result and provide related insight.
Ability to obtain a hi-lo license.
Proficient with the usage of hand tools
Understands what is a REDEX ON/OFF activity
Basic understanding of car configuration and solution for common car mechanical issues.
Must hold a valid Michigan driver’s license
ASE Certification or 2 year technical degree in mechanical, electrical or automotive required
Technical Expertise- Experience and knowledge of drivetrain systems and related mechanical and electrical components
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, SharePoint, Outlook)
- Good working knowledge of measuring devices.
