- Plan, conduct and report out on research and development projects to improve performance and reduce cost for materials used in thermal management components, including consideration of materials processing, mechanical strength, environmental/chemical resistance, electrical/electronic function, and corrosion resistance of Hanon Systems products.
- Plan, conduct, and report out on complex, failure analysis investigations on thermal management and electronic circuit boards and interconnections.
- Design/develop test methods and fixtures for mechanical testing and characterization of materials used in materials R&D projects.
- Select and specify metallic, polymeric and/or elastomeric materials to meet fabrication, mechanical strength, cost, electrical/electronic function, and corrosion resistance requirements for Hanon Systems designed thermal management components.
- Propose, develop and execute plans to upgrade Materials Engineering Laboratory analytical capabilities to meet R&D objectives.
- Follow and support implementation of ISO/TS 16949 requirements for the Materials Engineering Laboratory.
- Adhere to all laboratory safety guidelines and policies.
- 3 or more years experience in Materials Science and Engineering related R&D.
- Minimum 4 year Bachelor’s Degree in Materials Science & Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Polymeric/Macromolecular Engineering, or related engineering field. Advanced degree preferable.
- Knowledge of statistical methods, including Design of Experiments helpful.
- Demonstrated knowledge of academic principles and theory of Materials Science and Engineering.
- Experience and knowledge in materials analysis and characterization techniques including Metallography, Electron Microscopy, Corrosion/ Electrochemical Testing, Thermal Analysis, FT-IR Spectroscopy, and/or Mechanical Characterization.
- Experience and knowledge in electronic/electrical materials and technologies, printed circuit boards, and manufacturing processes.
- Team player.
- Strong desire to learn new skills.
- Demonstrated leadership.
- Experience working with internal and external Product Development customers.
- Able to work independently including time management and prioritization skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
