A global leader in precision manufacturing is seeking a Controls Engineering Manager to oversee machine control system projects from concept through customer acceptance. This mid-level leadership role blends technical design, project coordination, and light team supervision—perfect for a controls engineer ready to take the next step toward management without losing the hands‑on engineering connection.
You’ll guide a small team of 2–3 engineers and technicians, work closely with senior leadership, and play a key role in the integration, testing, and installation of advanced machine tools and automation systems.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and mentor a small team of controls engineers and technicians, ensuring project timelines and quality standards are met.
- Oversee controls hardware and software design for complex machine systems, collaborating with electrical and mechanical teams.
- Develop and implement PLC logic, HMI interfaces, and motion control integration (Siemens and/or Allen Bradley).
- Coordinate system commissioning, debugging, and machine runoff both in‑house and at customer sites.
- Review and approve electrical and pneumatic schematics, bills of materials, and wiring layouts.
- Work with project management to ensure proper documentation, scheduling, and cost awareness.
- Serve as a key technical liaison between engineering, build, and customer service teams.
- Promote and enforce safety, quality, and process improvement initiatives.
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.
- 5+ years of experience in controls design, automation systems, or machine tool industry.
- 1–3 years of supervisory or project leadership experience.
- Strong understanding of industrial communication networks (Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Profinet, Canbus).
- Experience with EPLAN or AutoCAD Electrical.
- Proficiency with Siemens Step 7, TIA Portal, WinCC, or Allen Bradley Studio 5000.
- Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and multitasking skills.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for customer installations or troubleshooting.
